Meet the Expedition's New Recruits: Monoco and Esquie

The team expands to eight characters: seven playable heroes and one dedicated to exploration. Monoco, a Gestral – a being who views combat as meditation – possesses the unique ability to transform into defeated enemies, leveraging their powers. Gestrals are notably immune to the Paintress's influence.

Esquie, an ageless legend considered the world's strongest being, takes a supporting role. He unlocks access to various locations on the open-world map. Gathering his special stones grants the team new abilities and access to previously unreachable areas. The remaining playable characters – Gustave, Lune, Maelle, Sciel, Renoir, and Verso – were previously introduced in an October 16th, 2024 YouTube video.
Reactive Turn-Based Combat and Deep Character Customization

Sandfall Interactive isn't just focusing on aesthetics; they've revolutionized classic turn-based combat. As stated in an Xbox Wire article (January 23rd, 2025), CEO Guillaume Broche emphasizes the unique playstyles and diverse mechanics of each character.
The innovative "reactive turn-based system" introduces real-time elements: dodge and parry enemy attacks for increased damage. Timing is key, but adjustable difficulty settings cater to all skill levels.

Deep character customization is central. Unique skill trees, like Lune's "Stain" resource, and Luminas (passive effects gained by evolving "Pictos" – equipment modifiers – after four battles) offer hundreds of build possibilities. This blend of strategic depth and reactive combat promises a truly engaging experience.
