Destiny 2 Releases Update 8.0.0.5

Destiny 2 Update 8.0.0.5: Addressing Community Concerns and Improving Gameplay

Bungie has released Destiny 2 update 8.0.0.5, addressing several community-reported issues and implementing significant gameplay improvements. While recent updates like Into the Light and the The Final Shape expansion have greatly enhanced the game's popularity, some problems persisted. This update tackles several of these, focusing on key areas like the Pathfinder system and dungeon/raid balance.

One major change affects the Pathfinder system, a replacement for daily and weekly bounties. Player feedback highlighted issues with node organization and the need to switch activities, negating streak bonuses. This update reworks certain Gambit nodes, providing a more streamlined progression path achievable through either PvE or PvP activities.

Another significant adjustment removes elemental surges from dungeons and raids. Following player reports of increased difficulty and tedious encounters, Bungie confirmed the removal of surges and implemented a universal damage bonus for all subclasses, restoring a more balanced experience.

This update also addresses a popular exploit in the Dual Destiny exotic mission that allowed players to obtain double exotic class items. This exploit has been patched.

Here's a summary of the key changes in the 8.0.0.5 patch notes:

Crucible:

  • Resolved an issue with incorrect expansion requirements for Trials of Osiris.
  • Corrected trace rifle ammo counts at match start.

Campaign:

  • Added an Epilogue option to rewatch Excision cinematics.
  • Fixed matchmaking issues in Liminality after the final boss.

Dual Destiny Exotic Mission:

  • Fixed the double exotic class item acquisition exploit.

Cooperative Focus Missions:

  • Addressed issues preventing correct mission unlocks.

Raids & Dungeons:

  • Removed elemental surges and added a universal damage buff to all subclasses and Kinetic damage types.

Seasonal Activities:

  • Fixed the daily reset issue with Piston Hammer charges (previously addressed in a mid-week update).

Gameplay and Investment:

Abilities:

  • Corrected Storm Grenade energy gain from perks like Devour.

Armor:

  • Fixed Precious Scars triggering incorrectly with Kinetic weapons.

Weapons:

  • Adjusted Riposte weapon roll to include Desperate Measures instead of Golden Tricorn (Golden Tricorn instances will be updated in a future patch).
  • Fixed Sword Wolfpack Round activation of Relentless Strikes perk.

Quests:

  • Removed the Vanguard Ops bounty requirement from the "On the Offensive" quest.
  • Fixed issues with dismantling Dyadic Prism and acquiring Khvostov 7G-0X.

Pathfinder:

  • Replaced Gambit nodes in Ritual Pathfinder with general nodes, allowing completion through PvE or PvP.
  • Fixed tracking issues with motes banking objectives.
  • Addressed issues with Pale Heart Pathfinder resets and Ergo Sum drops.
  • Corrected Urban Parkour objective updates in the Lost City Outskirts.

Emotes:

  • Fixed issues with The Final Slice finisher and the D&D Emote, Natural 20.

Platforms and Systems:

  • Resolved VFX overheating issues on Xbox consoles related to Prismatic class screens.

General:

  • Corrected the Rank 16 Ghost reputation shader reward. Affected players will receive the updated shader automatically.
  • Fixed scaling issues with a Bungie Rewards Director Dialog image.

This update demonstrates Bungie's commitment to addressing player feedback and maintaining a positive player experience in Destiny 2.
