Embracer celebrates the triumph of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, nearing 2 million units sold.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 reached 1 million copies sold within a day of its release, nearly doubling that number in just 10 days.
The sequel, developed by Warhorse Studios, is a medieval Europe action RPG that launched on February 4 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Embracer noted exceptional performance on Steam, with a peak of over 250,000 concurrent players. For comparison, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance peaked at 96,069 concurrent Steam players seven years ago.
The game’s true peak concurrent player count is likely higher, as it also launched on consoles, though Sony and Microsoft do not disclose player data.
Embracer, which owns Warhorse Studios through its subsidiary Plaion, stated that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has achieved early success in player and critic reception, as well as performance metrics.
“This milestone reflects the commitment and talent of Warhorse Studios and our publisher, Deep Silver,” said Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors.
“We are confident that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will continue to drive significant revenue in the years ahead, showcasing its outstanding quality, immersion, and appeal. Warhorse Studios has planned updates and new content over the next 12 months to keep the experience dynamic and engaging for players.”
“We are incredibly proud of the teams behind the successful launch of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which has far exceeded our expectations,” Wingefors added.
Beyond Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Embracer is preparing to release Killing Floor 3 in the January to March 2025 quarter.
Embracer currently employs over 5,000 game developers working on upcoming titles, with 10 triple-A games slated for release over the next three financial years (FY 2025/26, FY 2026/27, and FY 2027/28). Eight of these are from internal studios, and two are from external partners.
For FY 2025/26, Embracer plans to launch two triple-A titles toward the end of the financial year. Mid-size releases include Gothic 1 Remake, REANIMAL, Fellowship, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Titan Quest II, Screamer, Echoes of the End (working title), Tides of Tomorrow, Satisfactory (console), and the full release of Wreckfest 2, alongside several unannounced mid-sized games.
Embracer has faced challenges in recent years, including layoffs of thousands of employees and the sale of studios like Gearbox (Borderlands) and Saber Interactive (Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2). It continues to own 4A Games, which is developing a new game in the Metro series.
