Freedom Wars Remastered Shows Off Gameplay Systems

Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed

A new trailer for Freedom Wars Remastered showcases the game's revamped gameplay and control systems, highlighting its enhanced visuals and added features. This action RPG, set in a dystopian world ravaged by resource depletion, tasks players with battling massive mechanical creatures known as Abductors. Players harvest parts from defeated Abductors to upgrade their gear, creating a compelling loop of combat and progression. The game will be available January 10th on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC.

Originally a PlayStation Vita exclusive, Freedom Wars shares a similar gameplay loop with the Monster Hunter series – a fact highlighted by its development in response to Capcom's decision to bring Monster Hunter to Nintendo consoles. Freedom Wars Remastered modernizes this experience.

The trailer introduces the protagonist, a "Sinner" condemned for the crime of being born, and depicts their life within a harsh, resource-scarce world. Players undertake missions for their Panopticon, their city-state, ranging from rescuing citizens to destroying Abductors and securing control systems. These missions can be tackled solo or cooperatively online.

Improved Gameplay and Visuals:

Freedom Wars Remastered boasts significant improvements. Visuals receive a major upgrade, reaching 4K resolution (2160p) at 60 FPS on PS5 and PC. PS4 players will enjoy 1080p at 60 FPS, while the Switch version runs at 1080p and 30 FPS. Beyond the visual enhancements, gameplay is faster-paced, thanks to refined mechanics, increased movement speed, and the ability to cancel weapon attacks.

Revamped Systems and New Content:

The crafting and upgrade systems have undergone a complete overhaul, featuring more intuitive interfaces and the ability to attach and detach modules freely. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance modules using resources obtained from rescued citizens. Finally, a challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to experienced players, and all original customization DLC from the PS Vita version is included.
