Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC Version: DLC Dependent on Player Demand, Modding Guidelines Issued
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's director, Naoki Hamaguchi, recently shed light on the PC version's development, addressing the possibility of DLC and offering guidance to the modding community. The interview, published on the Epic Games blog on December 13th, revealed key details.

DLC: A Conditional Promise
While the development team initially considered adding episodic DLC to the PC release, resource constraints led them to prioritize completing the trilogy's final installment. Hamaguchi stated that adding new content is not currently planned, but he's receptive to strong player demand. Substantial player requests could sway the decision to develop post-launch content.

Modding Community: A Call for Responsible Creation
Recognizing the inevitable interest from modders, Hamaguchi issued a plea for responsible modding. While official mod support isn't implemented, the team respects creative contributions but requests that modders refrain from creating or distributing offensive or inappropriate content.

The potential for transformative mods, mirroring the impact of mods on games like Counter-Strike, is acknowledged, but the need for responsible content creation remains paramount.

PC Version Enhancements
The PC version boasts improved graphics, addressing previous criticisms. Lighting rendering has been refined to mitigate the "uncanny valley" effect on character faces. Higher-resolution 3D models and textures, exceeding the PS5's capabilities, are included for high-end systems. However, adapting mini-games for PC proved challenging, requiring extensive key configuration adjustments.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches on Steam and the Epic Games Store on January 23rd, 2025. The game, originally released for PS5 on February 9th, 2024, has garnered widespread critical acclaim. For more information, further articles on FF7 Rebirth are available.
