Capcom is optimizing Monster Hunter Wilds for improved performance and reduced GPU requirements before launch. This follows feedback from the initial beta test, which revealed performance issues on PC.

Lowering the Bar: GPU Requirements Under Scrutiny
Capcom's German Twitter (X) account announced performance improvements, particularly focusing on lowering the GPU requirements for the PC version. A video showcasing smoother gameplay on PS5's updated Prioritize Framerate mode (prioritizing FPS over graphics) hints at similar optimizations for PC.

Currently, the minimum GPU requirements are an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super or an AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT. Success in lowering these requirements would broaden the game's accessibility to players with less powerful hardware. A free benchmarking tool is also planned to help players assess their system's compatibility.

Addressing Beta Concerns
The initial open beta test (October/November 2024) highlighted significant performance issues, including low-poly models and FPS drops, even on high-end PCs. Capcom acknowledged these problems, stating that improvements were underway and that certain issues (like afterimage noise) would be resolved in the final release.

A second open beta test (February 7-10 & 14-17, 2025) is scheduled for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, featuring new monsters. Whether the performance improvements will be fully implemented in this beta remains to be seen.

The ongoing optimization efforts suggest a commitment to delivering a smoother, more accessible Monster Hunter Wilds experience for all players.
