Civilization 7 Patch 1.0.1 Addresses Some of the Negative Feedback From Advanced Access

Feb 28,2025 Author: Sarah

Firaxis, the developer behind Civilization 7, has released patch 1.0.1, addressing player concerns following a mixed reception during the game's advanced access period on Steam. The patch focuses primarily on refining the user interface, enhancing map diversity, and incorporating features expected by the established Civilization fanbase.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged the negative feedback in an interview with IGN, expressing confidence that the core Civilization audience will appreciate the game with increased playtime. He described the game's initial performance as "very encouraging."

Now available to all players, Patch 1.0.1 (referred to as Patch 2 on Steam) is currently exclusive to PC, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck. Firaxis has temporarily disabled cross-play multiplayer to streamline PC updates, clarifying that this won't affect console-to-console or PC-to-PC multiplayer. Future patches will be released to address ongoing feedback.
