inZOI Developer Responds to Denuvo DRM Backlash
Denuvo Removal Confirmed for inZOI

The inZOI development team has officially announced the removal of Denuvo DRM from their upcoming game. Within the last day, players discovered the anti-tamper software included in the Creative Studio mode demo, sparking community concerns. Denuvo's implementation frequently generates debate among PC gamers, with widespread reports suggesting potential performance impacts.
This digital rights management technology aims to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution, typically making games more difficult to pirate.
Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim addressed these concerns in a March 26 Steam blog post, confirming the Early Access version launching this Friday will ship without DRM: "We initially implemented Denuvo to safeguard against piracy and preserve fairness for legitimate players. However, after carefully evaluating community feedback, we recognized this approach conflicted with our players' expectations."

Kim also apologized for failing to notify players about Denuvo's inclusion in the Creative Studio mode. While acknowledging DRM removal might increase piracy risks, the director emphasized greater benefits: "This decision enables unrestricted customization and creative freedom from launch. We believe fostering this open environment will ultimately enrich the player experience and community creativity."
Commitment to Modding Support

The initial Denuvo inclusion surprised players given inZOI's emphasis on moddability, as DRM typically restricts players' ability to modify game files.
Kim reiterated their vision: "As stated during our Online Showcase, we're dedicated to making inZOI deeply moddable. Our first official mod tools will launch in May, supporting Maya and Blender integration for custom content creation. This represents just our initial phase – we'll continue expanding mod support across all game systems."
The director promised future details regarding modding capabilities in upcoming announcements. Krafton remains committed to prioritizing player feedback throughout development.
inZOI launches in Early Access for PC on March 28, 2025, with full releases planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The exact full release date remains unconfirmed.
